"After you."

Obadiah holds the door open for Tony.

Everything inside is ready, though nothing looks any different from usual. (Aside from the door to the bedroom being ajar rather than either fully open or closed.)

"—nope," he says, "but I should have. Christ, what am I, Goldilocks?"

Obadiah laughs.

"What, you didn't think the one I used was just right?"

"Oh, it really fucking was."

"Mm. I could tell."

He takes a thoughtful bite of pizza.

"Maybe next time I'll stick around to watch you squirm."

"You could blindfold me," he suggests, "so I won't know if you're there or not."

Obadiah nods approvingly.

"Good idea," he says. "Then you won't know exactly what I'm using on you, either." But Obadiah will still be able to see his face as he does it. Not quite the same as watching his eyes, but an acceptable compromise.

Tony shivers pleasantly and leans his head on Obie's shoulder for a second. "Mm. I like it."

"Anything you'd rather not try a second time?"

It's the kind of thing he should be asking, that he knows Tony will want to hear.

He thinks about it.

"Nah. It was pretty much all awesome. Even the parts I didn't like, I liked. —That makes no sense, but it's still true."

"I know what you mean."

More or less.

"Good, I'm glad to hear it."

He finishes the pizza slice, wipes his hand on a napkin.

"You were very convincing in your distress."

"I was pretty distressed sometimes," he admits, grinning. "But I was into it."

"I could tell," he says. "You were astonishingly bad at hiding it."

His tone is a little teasing, since Tony's being bad at hiding how into it he was was half the point.

"Half on purpose."

But only half.

"Only half?"

But he'd known that, too. Tony isn't that good an actor.

"It's more fun if I'm really trying."

"Can't argue with that," he agrees.

The note of authenticity in Tony's performance was what made it so appealing.

"I know you can't," he says happily. "I'm awesome."

He chuckles warmly.

"You're not half-bad."

"That is your way of saying I'm awesome," Tony asserts, grinning.

"I try not to feed the Stark ego," is the dry answer.

Tony just laughs and rests his head on Obie's shoulder again.

This time, he has a hand free, so he slides his arm around Tony.

This entire experiment seems to have gone off without a hitch. Keeping Tony happy has proven reasonably simple, but then that was never truly in doubt. Tony has never been high maintenance, and Obadiah knows all the little ways to keep him feeling secure and content. Even this Tony, with his knowledge about how Obadiah operates, is easy to manage; sex is another tool in the repertoire, with the additional advantage of being exactly what Obadiah wants from him.

And really, there are worse ways to pass the time than having Tony cuddled up against him. As prices go, it's a very easy one to pay.

"Speaking of Tsar Cannons," which they haven't been for a while, but then Tony's mind is not always very linear, "you weren't really going to stick that thing in my dick, were you?"

Obadiah pauses for a second or two, because knowing Tony doesn't always mean that his non sequiturs are easy to follow, then says,

"God, no. That's for serious enthusiasts, you'd need something much smaller. No, I just wanted to scare you and then make you feel like you'd won something without actually giving anything up. It was about the only thing I could think of that you might object to without panicking."

"You sure called that one right," he says with a laugh.

If Obie ever wanted to break him for real, he's pretty sure he wouldn't stand a chance. It would take a while and it would get messy as hell but in the end, he'd go down.

He doesn't dwell on it, because it's not going to happen. He trusts Obie. He trusts that Obie really does like him, that Obie is definitely getting what he wants out of this relationship, and that Obie has the sense to realize that Sherry would rip him in half.

But, because Tony is Tony, mostly the first one.
