It's one of those days where there aren't enough hours to get everything done. That's where Milliways comes in.

Obadiah just wishes he could use it for business lunches.

"And if that's what you think of me," he says, not unkindly, "then I have to admit to being relieved my double isn't around any longer. It's starting to sound like you might be safer that way."

"Oh my God." He snorts. "Y'know, I love you, and I kind of love him, but—I'd shoot him first."

He laughs.

"You know," he says, "I believe that."

Tony grins up at him.

"I wouldn't shoot you, though."

A second later his mind flashes to a few of the really disturbing implications of that sentence, and he concludes that he obviously does trust this Obie. A lot.

Well, okay then.

Obadiah grins back at him.

"Again, that's very sweet."

If any of those implications surface in his mind, it doesn't show on his face.

You know, he'd almost be happier if he saw it. At least then he'd know.

But you have to pick your battles.

Tony considers standing up and kissing him—considers it quite happily, in fact—but in the end he just leans his head on Obie's stomach and smiles into his shirt.

Obadiah moves his hand back up to stroke Tony's hair, allowing his fingertips to brush over the back of Tony's neck.

He hums softly. Instant kitten mode.

After a moment, he abandons the pretense of playing with Tony's hair entirely in favor of just stroking the back of his neck.

That's good too.

Tony is thinking things. Is Obie also thinking things?

Obadiah is always thinking things when it comes to Tony. He is not unaware of the implications of their current position, though he has been very carefully keeping his mind off it while he concentrated on reassuring Tony. With the danger past, he's being markedly less careful about that.

Tony looks up and grins.

So yes, they are both thinking things. The same ones, even. Isn't it nice when that happens?

Obadiah smiles down at him fondly, stroking his thumb over Tony's lower lip.

It's certainly convenient.

He catches Obie's thumb gently between his teeth and licks it.

Tony Stark's complete shamelessness: also convenient.
